SHORT PORTRAIT OF KAPPEL SO The municipality of Kappel in the canton of Solothurn belongs to the district of Olten and is located in the beautiful Untergäu. Nestled between the southern foothills of the Jura and the Born lies the pleasant village with its lively village center. Kappel is located at 425 m above sea level and currently has 3,280 inhabitants (as of 31.12.2019).

Kappel is served by a bus line that runs to Olten every half hour. In the neighboring community of Hägendorf is also a stop of the Swiss Federal Railways. Kappel can also be reached quickly by car, as it is located between the A1/A2 freeway feeder roads Oensingen and Oftringen.

Despite the good accessibility, Kappel has been able to retain its rural charm. The community offers its inhabitants a wide range of leisure activities. In more than 30 clubs, people do gymnastics and sing and indulge in club life. Once a year, on the first weekend in September, the village clubs organize a village fair with many attractions.

Kappel is situated at the foot of the Born, a 720 m high hill in the foothills of the Jura. On the Born stands the landmark of the village of Kappel. A small romantic chapel from the year 1866. The Born is used by the people of Kappel as an ideal recreation area for hiking and biking. The redoubt, a small fortification from the First World War, has been converted into an ideal barbecue area (note: use is only possible by prior arrangement).
