Services Industriels de Genève (SIG) (Le Lignon)

SIG is a public Swiss company for the distribution of local services. It serves 250,000 customers in the canton of Geneva and supplies water, gas, electricity and thermal energy. SIG traite les eaux usées, valorise les déchets et propose des services innovants dans les domaines des télécoms et des services énergétiques. Ses activités visent à promouvoir le moins et mieux consommer en vue de contribuer au développement durable.

Développement durable Engaged in sustainable development for 20 years, SIG integrates in its policy respect for the environment as well as economic and social dimensions. Sustainable development affects all decisions and actions taken by SIG, whether in its investment projects, its day-to-day operations or its strategic development.

Electricity SIG alimente les Genevois en électricité et leur assure un approvisionnement continu et de qualité. 100% of the electricity supplied by SIG is of certified origin, 90% of which comes from renewable sources. To achieve this, SIG invests regularly in numerous energy projects (solar, solar thermal, etc.) and favors new renewable energies.

Gaz naturel L'énergie fossile la plus respectueuse de l'environnement, le gaz naturel, alimente près de 45'000 Genevois. Since 2013, SIG has been committed to fully compensating the CO2 emissions of its natural gas network and investing in local and international projects to reduce CO2 emissions.

Chauffage à distance SIG développe et entretient un réseau de chauffage à distance, qui alimente plus de 50'000 Genevois. Fonctionnant comme un chauffage central géant, le réseau approvisionne les quartiers les plus denses, avec la chaufferie du Lignon (alimentée par le gaz naturel) et l'usine des Cheneviers (valorisation de la chaleur par la combustion des déchets). The independent surface geothermal energy networks (valorization of the water from the lake) are also being built and used and will allow the buildings with high energy performance to be heated in the cold.

Eau potable Every year, SIG distributes around 60 million cubic meters of potable water and promotes water for consumption through various communication activities. Every year, 10,000 prelèvements across the canton give rise to 100,000 analyses by our laboratories in order to guarantee the highest quality of potable water and meet the requirements of a food supply.

Déchets Plus de 200'000 tonnes de déchets sont traitées chaque année aux Cheneviers. Their incineration produces electrical energy and provides food for 25,000 people. SIG also treats the green waste of Geneva (about 20,000 tons per year) and the recovery areas.

Eaux usées Avec ses huit stations primaires d'épuration sur le canton de Genève, Aïre et Bois-de-Bay en tête, SIG traite plus de 70 millions de m³ d'eaux usées à Genève. In compliance with strict sanitary standards, the water treated is returned to the natural environment (Rhône and Arve).

Services énergétiques En tant que partenaire de proximité dynamique et innovant, SIG offre une gamme variée de services énergétiques, allant de l'éclairage public à la maîtrise de l'énergie.

Télécommunications Avec un débit constant et une puissance largement supérieure à l'ADSL, la fiber optique est une technologie d'avenir particulièrement attractive. SIG has developed a network of almost 400 km of optical fiber and aims to serve 80% of the population of Geneva by 2016. SIG supplies the fiber to its partners, who propose and supply it to users.
